It all began in Montreal, Quebec in the 1950s with Celine’s mother and her passion for embroidery. Having successfully learned the art of her craft throughout the years, Celine’s mother and father confidently began what became a prosperous commercial embroidery business in Kitchener, Ontario in the 1980s. The success of their business inspired Celine Uttaro and her husband, George Lemire, and eventually paved the way for them to open their own commercial embroidery company in western Canada.

With years of experience in embroidery and reassurance that there was a demand for quality embroidery, Celine and George started The Embroidery Company in September 1995 in Edmonton, Alberta. Though the operation originally began with a 4-head embroidery machine in a 600 sq. foot commercial space, their quality embroidery and exceptional customer service set them apart from the rest and their business became a success within the first six months.

Serving local, national, and international clients, The Embroidery Company has continued to grow steadily through word-of-mouth and customer referrals. What once started as a small shop with 4 heads of embroidery eventually grew into one of Edmonton’s largest commercial embroidery companies with 53 heads of embroidery and 15 full-time staff.

Celine believes their success lies in the ability to provide consistent quality embroidery and cresting and create items for any venue. Her hope is to continue the legacy passed onto her by her parents and one day pass it on to her own children.
